What is workers’ compensation?
Generally speaking, if you are injured on the job, your injuries are covered by The Workers’ Compensation Act. When you suffer an on the job injury, you are entitled to payment of all your reasonable and related medical expenses, two thirds of your salary while you are unable to work and compensation for any permanent injury you sustain.
Employers in Illinois are required to have workers’ compensation insurance, but even if they do not, injuries may be covered by The Injured Workers’ Fund, a system of benefits provided to most workers who have job-related injuries.
